Highly motivated Bangladesh Under-20 Football team will take on Maldives Under-20 Football team in their third match of the SAFF Under-20 Championship at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar of India today. The match will kick-off at 7.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). If Bangladesh win their today’s match, they will confirm their final berth.
Bangladesh Under-20 Football made an auspicious start in their SAFF Under-20 Championship as they beat Sri Lanka Under-20 Football team by a solitary goal at the same venue on July 25.
Then, Bangladesh defeated their strong opponents India by 2-1 goals in their second match at the same venue on July 27.
A total of five teams are taking part in the SAFF Under-20 Championship. They are: Hosts India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal. The football competition are going on single league basis. Top two team’s will get the tickets of the final.
Captain of Bangladesh Under-20 Football team Tanvir Hossain said on Thursday, ” I am giving thanks to the Almighty. Our plan is we shall go forward match by match. We beat Sri Lanka and then India. Our team’s points are six points from two matches. Our target is to play final. If we can beat Maldives, we shall reach the final.”
Manager of Bangladesh Under-20 Football team Bijon Barua said, ” The boys performed well in the last two matches, according to the plan of our Coach. Before our match, India will play against Nepal. We shall be attentive to watch the result of that match.”
The booters were engaged yesterday morning in gymnasium and swimming pool. They took part in the practice session at the match venue yesterday afternoon.
