Hosts Bangladesh U-19 team took a 2-0 lead in the five-match Youth ODI series against the touring Afghanistan U-19 team, with 3 wicket win in the 2nd match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The remaining matches of the series will be held on September 14, 17 and 19 and the lone Test between the two sides will take place at the same venue on September 22.
After winning the first youth ODI on September 10, the Afghanistan under-19 won the toss in the second youth ODI, and elected to bat first; however, the young Afghan batting line-up faced a collapse early on, and was bundled out for only 101 runs, in only 42.3 overs.
Sabawoon Banoori, the Afghanistan opening batsman scored the most runs, as he played the knock of 25 runs off just 27 deliveries, as Naimur Rahman Nayon, the left-arm spinner, bowled an excellent spell of 10 overs, from which, four overs were maidens, while he collected four wickets for only 14 runs. Bangladesh reached the target of 102, losing seven wickets, in just 23.1 overs, as the Bangladesh opening batsman Mofijul Islam scored 31 runs from 39 deliveries, as the Afghan leggy Izharulhaq Naveed bagged four wickets for only 29 runs, and Shahidullah Hasani also grabbed three wickets.
