BD U-19 team lose in youth ODI series

Bangladesh U-19 team lost in the youth ODI series by 1-3 as they suffered a 33-run defeat to visiting Afghanistan U-19 team in the fifth and final match of the five-match series held on Friday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Opted to bat first after winning the toss, Afghanistan scored a decent total of 239 for 4 from stipulated 50 overs, courtesy of half centuries by Ibrahim Zadran (83) and Darwaish Abdul Rasool (75).
Nayeem Hasan bagged two wickets conceding 38 runs. Chasing a winning target of 240 runs set by Afghanistan, Bangladesh faced early batting jolt and eventually dismissed at 206 in 48.2 overs, despite Towhid Hridoy’s fighting 93-run knock. Wafadar Mahmud was the pick of Afghan bowler as he grabbed four wickets conceding 52 runs. He was well supported by Qais Ahmad who claimed three wickets giving away 35 runs.
Besides, Mujeeb Ur Rahman took two wickets for 24 runs. Darwaish Abdul Rasool of Afghanistan was named the player of the match.
Earlier, Bangladesh took 1-0 lead in the series as they crushed Afghanistan by 145 runs in the first match while the second match was called off due to rain.
