Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team will leave Dhaka for Sri Lanka on October 7 to play five one-day cricket matches against Sri Lanka Under-19 Cricket team there. Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team clinched the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title recently. After winning the World Cup, Bangladesh are going to abroad for the first time. Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed Bangladesh’s tour in October by issuing a press release on Sunday. After reaching Sri Lanka, Bangladesh will enter the bio-secure bubble environment. The five one-day cricket matches between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be held on October 15, 18, 20, 23 and 25. The venue of the matches yet to be finalized.
Bangladesh Youth team will tour Sri Lanka as preparation for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Newly appointed coach of Sri Lanka Under-19 Cricket team Avishka Gunawardene thinks the five-match one-day cricket series will be helpful for Sri Lankan Youth as the preparation of forthcoming ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
He said, ” The five-match one-day cricket series will give a chance for Sri Lanka Youth team to play some international matches after a long time. The series will help Sri Lanka Cricket to form an appropriate squad and team combination for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022.”
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team played a five-match one-day series against Afghanistan at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium recently. Bangladesh won the five-match one-day series 3-2.
