BD to set up artificial limbs service center

‘The poor in our society cannot afford to pay for limb replacement . They will be benefited if a permanent center for artificial limb attachment of the disabled is set up in the capital in near future’, said Health and Family Welfare Minister, Md. Nasim yesterday.
Speaking as a chief guest in the inauguration ceremony of artificial limb attachment camp, set by the National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (NITOR), the Health and Family Welfare said that a permanent center would be set up in the capital Dhaka for disabled poor people without limbs.
Under the direction of the Prime Minister, a camp has been set up by the effort of Bangladesh Orthopedic Society by joint collaboration of National Orthopedic Hospital of Bangladesh and the famous Disabled Support Organization of Jaypur, to attach artificial limbs to about nine hundred people. This camp started working from May 7 and will be operational till May 24.
The Minister said that the new Artificial Limbs Community Service Center will be set up and fund will be provided by both government and private organizations. There will be no cost charged to patients for the treatment provided in this center.
