The Bangladesh government has announced resumption of all international passenger flights to and from Dhaka starting 4 June. Now, passenger flights are being operated between Bangladesh and select countries in strict compliance with pandemic guidelines.
However, air bubble flights will remain suspended as before until further notice, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said in a circular on Wednesday.
Restrictions will remain in place for some selected countries with alarming Covid-19 infection rates.
Only Bangladeshi citizens who visited but are not residents of the 11 countries in Group A, in the 15 days prior to travelling to Bangladesh, are allowed to travel to and from Dhaka, provided they have special approval/authorization from the pertinent authority in Bangladesh.
They also have to complete a mandatory 14 day institutional quarantine at government nominated hotels at their own expense.
These Group A countries are: Argentina, Bahrain, Bolivia, Brazil, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.
There are eight countries under Group B. The countries are: Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Greece, Kuwait, and Oman.
Passengers arriving from these countries will also have to complete a mandatory 14 day institutional quarantine at government nominated hotels at their own expense. Thre is no restriction on outgoing passengers to these countries.
Passengers from all countries except in Group A and Group B are required to strictly observe home quarantine for 14 days, subject to a PCR negative certificate.
As an exception, passengers from two countries in the Middle East, Kuwait and Oman, will have to complete a mandatory 3 day institutional quarantine at government nominated facilities or hotels at their own expense.
