The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Thursday approved three procurement proposals, including one to import 1.03 million tonnes of petroleum fuel from January to June 2020.
The approval was given at a meeting held at NEC Bhaban in the city with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Nasima Begum briefed reporters after the meeting.
As per a proposal placed by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will import 1.03 tonnes of refined petroleum fuel from six international suppliers at a total cost of Tk 5,753 crore.
Of this, some 60,000 tonnes of diesel (gas oil) will be procured from Petrochina, 30,000 tonnes from PITT of Thailand, 21,000 tonnes of diesel, 60,000 tonnes of Jet-A1 oil and 40,000 tonnes of octane (mogas) from BSP of Indonesia.
