Considering geographical position, the government wants to make the country a global aviation hub that will guide the country’s current economy in front.
In continuation of this, Airbus, a global pioneer in the aerospace industry with European roots, wants to extend its business in Bangladesh by selling the aircrafts.
Considering the issue, the company introduced its Airbus A350F in Bangladesh on Sunday at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
The event intended to showcase their aircraft and foster conversation around technology that is designed to deliver a more personalized and enhanced long-haul travel experience.
“Significant opportunities exist for Bangladeshi airlines to expand passenger and cargo service internationally” according to a Airbus GMF 2021 data.
“Passenger traffic from /to within Bangladesh forecast to grow at 5.9 percent twice the world average,” shows the data.
The data also said that passenger traffic from/to Bangladesh expected to be more than triple during 2019-2040.
“Bangladesh is one of fastest growing aviation markets in world. The passenger fleet and Cargo traffic from/to Bangladesh expected to more than triple by 2040,” Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director, Airbus India & South Asia, said in a press conference at VVIP terminal of Dhaka airport.
“Airbus to be the reliable ally of Bangladesh for the Vision 2041 program. A350 takes further the stable relationship between Airbus and Bangladesh,” he added.
Airbus is a global pioneer in the aerospace industry, operating in the commercial aircraft, helicopters, defense and space sectors.
As a global company with over 130,000 employees around the world, Airbus has business operations located in Europe, the Americas, Africa & the Middle East, and Asia.
Though, currently, some foreign airlines including Singapore airline use Airbus for their commercial operations in Bangladesh, no local airlines have the aircraft of the company, according to the Airbus top officials.
Meanwhile, a high level team of Bangladesh government including the Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal also visited the aircraft and flied in the sky on Sunday.
“We have visited the aircraft and enjoyed the flight in the sky as per the invitation of the company. However, I cannot make any comment either Biman will buy aircraft from Airbus or not. Because, it’s a policy decision and Biman Board will take the decision,” Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal told The New Nation.
The A350 Family is the world’s most modern and efficient widebody family and the long-range leader, according to the information available in the event.
It is the only all-new design aircraft in the 300-410 seater category, offering the lowest cost per seat of any large widebody.
The A350 offers by design unrivalled operational flexibility and efficiency for all market segments up to ultra-long haul (9,700 m / 18 000 km).
The A350F is the only freighter that meets the latest ICAO CO2 emissions standard that will come into effect end 2027.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurates the construction work on Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) third terminal which is now going on in full swing. It will be the most modern one.
