Economic Reporter :
The country has seen an increase in vegetable export amid restrictions on movement globally due to the pandemic.
Till April of this fiscal, Bangladesh had exported vegetables worth about USD 180 million.
In 2019-20, the export volume was USD 164 million. “I hope vegetable export will increase further in the upcoming days,” Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said at a views-exchange meeting at Secretariat this afternoon.
Razzaque said the country is seeing growth in production of potatoes. “A good amount of potatoes was exported this year,” he said. Replying to a question, the minister said they are yet to assess the loss in agricultural sector due to Cyclone Yaas.
“Most of the crops of the affected areas have been harvested. Vegetables of some areas have been damaged. We assume the extent of loss will not be huge,” he added.
