Bangladesh scored 77 runs for the loss of two wickets at lunch on the first day of the second Test against West Indies at Darren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia on Friday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh made a good start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Joy put on together 41 runs in the opening stand before Joy (10) was bowled out by Anderson Phillip.
After Joy’s dismissal, Tamim Iqbal was caught at the cover point by Jermaine Blackwood off Alzarri Joseph when the hosts’ total was 68 for the loss of two wickets.
Tamim Iqbal hit a fine 46. His 67-ball innings was studded with nine fours.
One-down Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten with 16 runs, while Anamul Haque Bijoy remained unbeaten with five runs before the two umpires drew the bails for lunch.
Anderson Philipp and Alzarri Joseph took one wicket each for 15 and 23 runs respectively.
