Bangladesh will take on South Africa (SA) in the first One Day International (ODI) match at Kimberley in South Africa today. The match begins at 2.00 pm (BDT). GTV and Maasranga TV will telecast the match live.
Vice-Captain of Bangladesh team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” We shall play to win. We shall do our best. We shall try to bat well to make a good start. We shall try to bowl. If we can do all these, maintaining line and length, we have opportunity to win the match.”
He said, ” The conditions of South Africa is challenging and to win is a tough task. Rest of the teams will also feel pressure to play against South Africa here. South Africa tasted defeat in the ODI series against Bangladesh in away match in 2015. The conditions of a country usually play a vital role for the result of the match.”
Meanwhile, dashing opener Tamim Iqbal got injured in the first Test against South Africa. and did not play in the second Test.
Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee of BCB Akram Khan said, ” Tamim Iqbal is eighty percent fit. I am optimistic that he can play limited over ODI match against South Africa.” David Miller of South Africa who is going to play his 100th ODI today said, ” We are going through ups and downs. But I really enjoy this matter. My one dream is going to fulfil today. I dreamt to play for my country. Now I am going to play 100th ODI. I never thought that I would play 100th ODI match for my country.”
The 2nd and the 3rd ODI will be held on October 18 and October 22.
