Bangladesh Brand Forum organized the second edition of Bangladesh Retail Congress on Saturday at city’s Le Meridien Hotel.
The congress engaged the retail community of the country with experts from home and abroad in 4 keynote sessions, 3 panel discussions, 2 case study presentations and 1 breakout session. The theme for this year’s congress was ‘Redefining Retail in Bangladesh’. The congress was powered by Monno Ceramics and Lotto Bangladesh.
Opening speech was delivered by Shariful Islam Founder and Managing Director of Bangladesh Brand Forum and the welcome speech was given by Kazi Jamil Islam, Managing Director, Express Leather Products Ltd. Alongside, special speeches were given by Sabbir Hasan Nasir, Executive Director, ACI Logistics Limited (SHWAPNO) and Rasheed Mymunul Islam, Deputy Managing Director, Monno Group of Industries.
The esteemed keynote speakers were – Damodar Mall, CEO – Grocery Retail, Reliance Retail Limited, and Author, Supermarketwala who spoke on ‘A Walk With Supermarketwala: Shopkeeper Or Agent Of Modernity?’; Philippines’ Franchise Guru Armando O. Bartolome, President- GMB Management Services Global Inc. Guru’s session covered ‘Jump Starting The Retail Industry’. Arijit Chakraborti, Partner- Technology Consulting, PwC talked about “Building Blocks of The Future – How Technology Can Help in Retail Business Growth”. Shabri Prabhakar, Head of International Business, Coffee Day Global Limited illustrated ‘Brewing a Great Customer Experience-The Café Coffee Day Way.’
Three panel discussions that were held comprised of around 18 local industry stakeholders as moderator & panelists. These discussions focused on the following topics – ‘Future of Retail for Bangladesh’ which was moderated by Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Professor, IBA, University of Dhaka. Panelists for this session were Kazi Jamil Islam, Managing Director, Express Leather Products Limited; Professor Mohammad Abdul Momen, Director, Pride Group; Reaz Uddin Al-Mamoon, Managing Director, Epyllion Group; Syed Nasim Manzur, Managing Director, Apex Footwear Limited; Tamara Hasan Abed, Senior Director, BRAC Enterprises.
