BD registered 40 deaths of Covid, 3,868 infected in 24 hours

Bangladesh on Friday registered more 40 deaths of coronavirus infections in span of 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said it.
“The death toll now stands at 1,661 and the death rate at 1.27 percent,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a press briefing.
She said also that 3,868 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the same span.
“With this, the infection rate of the last 24 hours is 20.91 percent and the total number of infections in the country is 1,30,474,” Dr. Sultana said.
The DGHS official said that total 18,498 samples were tested in 66 laboratories across the country in the same period.
She said that 1,638 virus infected patients have recovered in the same span.
“With this, the total number of recoveries has reached 53,133 and the current recovery rate is 40.72 percent,” she said.
Bangladesh has reported its first Covid-19 cases on March 8 and registered first death of the virus on March 18.
