BD reelected to 3 regional institutions of UNESCAP

Bangladesh was reelected with second highest votes as member of the Governing Council of three regional institutions of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The election was held during ESCAP’s 71st session held recently, according to a message received here on Tuesday night.
The three councils are Asia Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT), Centre for the Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA) and Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanisation (CSAM).
Based in Incheon, Korea, APCICT’s mission is to strengthen efforts of the member countries of ESCAP to use ICT in their socio-economic development through human and institutional capacity building.
CAPSA, based in Bogor, Indonesia aims to strengthen South-South Dialogue and intra-regional learning on poverty, food security and sustainable agriculture.
The vision of CSAM, based in Beijing, is to achieve production gains, improved rural livelihood and poverty alleviation through sustainable agricultural mechanization for a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable Asia and the Pacific.
