BD reaffirms full support to UN peacekeeping operations

Bangladesh has reaffirmed its full support to the United Nations peacekeeping operations for establishing and safeguarding world peace as the International Day of UN Peacekeepers-2019′ will be observed in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world on Wednesday.
In separate messages on Tuesday, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the assurance on the occasion of International Day of UN Peacekeepers that falls on May 29.
“I hope Bangladeshi peacekeepers, performing their duties with honesty, devotion and professionalism, will be able to continue this trend in establishing world peace, harmony and amity in the days to come,” said President Hamid wishing the observance of the day a grand success.
The Prime Minister, on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, assured her full support to the UN peacekeeping operations for establishing and safeguarding world peace. “I hope Bangladeshi peacekeepers will contribute more in the future with their highest standard of professionalism, efficiency and sincerity.”
She conveyed her heartiest congratulations and felicitations to all Bangladeshi peacekeeping members. “I solemnly pray for the salvation of the departed souls of those heroic peacekeepers who made their supreme sacrifice for the cause of peace. I also convey my heartfelt sympathy to their bereaved family members.”The Prime Minister mentioned that Bangladesh is one of the largest troop-contributing nations in UN peacekeeping missions. Bangladeshi peacekeepers have been working relentlessly to establish peace and harmony in various conflict zones in the world, she said.
“They’re highly praised worldwide for their high standard of professionalism, devoted service, hard work, dedication and courage for the establishment of world peace and harmony,” said the Prime Minister.
President Hamid also conveyed his heartiest congratulations and felicitations to all members of the UN Peacekeepers including Bangladesh. “I pay my deep homage to the valiant members of UN Peacekeepers who made supreme sacrifices for upholding world peace.”
He said the government, in pursuing diplomatic objectives, has been consistent in upholding the principle of ‘Friendship to all, malice towards none’ as enunciated by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The President said Bangladesh has now been emerged as a country of peace and communal harmony around the world.
He mentioned the peacekeepers of Bangladesh have been able to attain credibility by dint of their highest standard of professionalism, devotion and bravery since their first engagement to UN Peacekeeping operations in 1988.
