Bangladesh has ranked third place on the global list of handing over death sentences in 2015.
The London-based human rights organisation Amnesty International found that at least 1,998 people were sentenced to death in 61 countries in 2015.
Bangladesh handed over a total of 197 death sentence and four of the penalties were executed 2015, reports Amnesty International’s Death Sentences and Executions 2015 report. China has been named as the world’s biggest executioner with more than a thousand death penalties, while Egypt ranks second with more than 538 death penalties.
The report also said at least 20,292 people were under sentence to death worldwide at the end of 2015. The Amnesty International reported Iran ranked second with more than 977 executions, while Pakistan placed third with 326 executions in 2015. However, the number of executions recorded in Saudi Arabia is 158.
