Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons), proposed to impart enough capacity building measures for developing countries.
This was proposed so that countries like Bangladesh could face eventualities like what happened at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 13 February 2017 where a chemical weapon, the Schedule-1 nerve agent VX, was used against a DPRK national, said a media release of Embassy of Bangladesh in the Hague.
The Bangladesh Ambassador made this proposal during the inaugural meeting of the open-ended working group for the preparations for the Fourth Review Conference, 21-30 November 2018.
