BD painting exhibition opens in Yangon

A weeklong painting exhibition of two prominent Bangladeshi artists began in the prestigious Yangon Gallery in Myanmar on Thursday.
Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon has organized the exhibition titled “Confluence of minds and interplay of colors-ll” that primarily features works of Jamal Ahmed and Mohammad Iqbal, a press release said here today.
Bangladesh Ambassador Sufiur Rahman along with Secretary of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Lower House Bo Bo Oo and Pro-Rector of the National University of Arts and Craft of Myanmar Thit Lwin Soe inaugurated it.
This was the second exhibition following the one organized by the embassy with the same title in June 2015.
“The embassy has been organizing various public diplomacy events in Yangon to showcase the commonalities of cultures, traditions and social mores of the two neighbours in order to bring two peoples and countries closer,” the release said.
The embassy also arranged for participation of four Myanmar artists in the upcoming Asian Art Biennial in Dhaka. During the inauguration, Bangladeshi artwork was introduced to the audience highlighting its richness, liberal ethos and inclusiveness.
The exhibition is open till November 30, 2016 for local audience which showcases paintings of Jamal Ahmed and of Mohammad Iqbal along with an assortment of paintings by notable artists from Bangladesh from private collections. A host of local elites, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps were present in the inaugural function in addition to a good number of Bangladesh expatriates in Yangon.
