The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Wednesday placed two Bangladesh-origin German citizens on a three-day remand each in a case filed under Special Power Act.
Magistrate Nurunnahar Yeasmin passed the order
after hearing on the remand of Investigation Officer (IO) Shafiqul Islam, who is also an Inspector of the Airport Police Station. He produced the two accused to the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Earlier on Tuesday, Customs officials said they detained the two Bangladesh-origin German citizens with nine firearms from the green channel at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The duo allegedly arrived at the airport by an Emirates flight at about 8.45 am on Tuesday. On secret information, the Customs officials found the nine small arms inside a carton, they were carrying.
