Bangladeshi-origin American Dr Mohammad Saifur Rahman, an Associate Professor of the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, has been honoured with the 2018 INFORMS’s Information Systems Society (ISS) Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award. ISS President Dr Ramnath K Chellappa handed over the award to Rahman at a recent conference at Purdue University in the USA, according a webpost of the university.
INFORMS is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to and promoting best practices and advances in operations research, management science, and analytics to improve operational processes, decision-making, and outcomes.
The prize recognises Rahman as an early career individual on a path toward making outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems discipline.
The spirit of the award is to honour the memory of the late Professor Sandy Slaughter, who was tireless in her pursuit of recognising the potential leaders of the “next generation” of information systems academics. Rahman was named one of the World’s Top 40 Business School Professors under 40 by Poets and Quants in 2017.
