Bangladesh is optimistic of sending manpower to Malaysia by August.
Sources said, Malaysian employer companies have submitted their demands to their government on hiring Bangladeshi manpower.
As per the demand documents, Malaysian Human resource ministry has been sending those attested documents to Bangladesh embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The embassy also sent those documents to the ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas employment to Dhaka.
The ministry is scrutinizing those documents for sending manpower to the third largest market for Bangladeshi workers.
 When contacted, Dr. Ahmed Munirus Salehin, Secretary of the ministry told The New Nation on Wednesday, “We have got many attested documents from Kuala Lumpur for sending our manpower there. We are scrutinizing those. The procedures of sending manpower to the country is going well and fast.”
He said that the ministry is hopeful that several thousand workers will fly by the month of August to Malaysia.
Meanwhile, members of Malaysian cabinet criticized seriously the Human Resource Minister M. Saravanan in its meeting on Tuesday for his role of allowing syndication for recruiting Bangladeshi manpower, said media reports.
Malaysia agreed to hire 500,000 Bangladeshi workers over the next five years as per the first joint working group (JWG) meeting on June2 this year, after signing the memorandum of understanding in this regard on Deecmber19 in 2021 in Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has prepared a database of eligible workers for sending to Malaysia.
“We have prepared a list of five lakh workers. All are eligible for being recruited to Malaysia,” Dr. Munirus Salehin said.
He said that many more would be included in the database soon.
As per the statement issued by the expatriate’s welfare ministry, after the JWG meeting, it will be the first batch of documented workers from Bangladesh since 2018.
Four years ago, similar efforts were suspended over allegations of malpractice in the recruitment process for migrant workers of Bangladesh many of whom were hired for low wages in plantations, construction and other sectors in Malaysia.
Many members of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) alleged that this time also manpower would be sent through such a syndication of 25 fixed recruiting agencies.
On the other hand, Imran Ahmed, Bangladesh’s minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said that he has handed over the Malaysian concern ministry a list all about 1500 recruiting agencies.
“The Malaysian government will select the recruiting agency from Bangladesh, which will be involved in the process,” Imran Ahmed said.
“Malaysia will hire a total of 500,000 workers from Bangladesh in five years. We are hopeful about sending 200,000 workers in the first year,” Imran Ahmed said after the JWG meeting in presence of Malaysian minister M. Saravanan.
