Bangladesh is strengthening its position in the high-end garment markets. It has already been ranked number one in the export of denim in the European market. Washing sector is contributing most to this value addition.
Speakers said on Friday at the 10th anniversary of Bangladesh Garment Washing Technologies Foundation (BGWTF) and annual general meeting at Bashundhara International Convention City.
FBCCI Vice-President Siddiqur Rahman was the chief guest at this program which sponsored by Denim Solutions Limited and Presided by Eng. Zaakir Hossain Lelin, President of BGWTF.
Eng Md Mehedi Hasan, the founder president of this foundation; Mr. Umut demirtas, Regional Manager-South Asia, Kaiser Tekstil, Turkey; SM Sohel Rana, the Managing Director of Denim Solutions Limited, ITET President Eng. Shafiqur Rahman, Director of BGMEA Mohammed Nasir, Director General of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman also present as special guest.
Chief guest Siddiqur Rahman said, ‘there is no alternative to sustaining the export market by creating high value clothing. The most important contribution in this case is the washing sector. The hope is that now there is no need to bring technologists from abroad for this sector. There are world-class technologists in the country. But now it is time to build washing institute thinking about the future.’ FBCCI will help overall in this regard, he added.
BGWTF founder president Mehedi Hasan said, ‘We have come to number one in the export of denim in the European market. The contribution of the Washing sector to this denim is about 45 percent. If a $ 10 basic denim is valued $ 6, its $ 4 is through washing. He said that this organization is working to organize the washing technologists and make them more efficient. They are working to establish a washing institute in 2020, he said.
Mr. Sohel Rana, Managing Director of Denim Solutions Limited said that BGWFF is working for the welfare of the washing technicians. Denim Solutions is giving support to these technicians with new information and chemicals. He said, Denim Solutions Ltd is the sole distributor in BD of Dyestar Global Laundry Auxiliaries’s Agent Kaiser Tekstil, Turkey.
Bangladeshi washing technicians are now working with fame in the factories of the country. There is a huge amount of foreign currency being saved, he added.
