Sylhet Test: BD need 295 runs to win

Bangladesh need 295 runs to win the first Test against Zimbabwe with two days in hand at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. Bangladesh scored 26 for the loss of none at the close of the third day play (Monday).
On the other hand, Zimbabwe need ten wickets to win the first Test.
Electing to bat first, Zimbabwe made 282 in the first innings on the second day (Sunday).
In reply, Bangladesh scored a paltry total of 143 in the first innings on the second day.
Later, Zimbabwe scored 181 only in second innings on the third day.
Zimbabwe resumed their second innings with the over-night score of one for the loss of none.
Brian Chari and Hamilton Masakadza resumed their second innings with the over-night score of naught and one.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who grabbed six wickets for 108 runs in the first innings, also shone with the cherry in the second innings bagging five wickets for 62 runs.
Right-arm spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz gave his team breakthrough as Brian Chari (4) was cleanly bowled out by Miraz when Zimbabwe’s score was 19.
One-down Brendan Taylor (24) was caught at the long-on by Imrul Kayes off Taijul Islam when the visitors’ total was 47 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Hamilton Masakadza and Sean Williams built the day’s only notable partnership. They put on together 54 runs for the third wicket partnership before Hamilton was trapped leg before wicket by Miraz when the tourists’ score was 101 for the loss of three wickets.
Hamilton made a polished 48 from 104 balls featuring seven fours. Second-down Williams (20) was cleanly bowled out by Taijul Islam when the African side’s score was 121 for the loss of four wickets.
Peter Moor (0) was caught at the silly mid-off by Liton Das off Taijul Islam when Zimbabwe’s total was 121 for the loss of five wickets.
Then Taijul Islam bowled out Sikandar Raza (25) when the board was giving a reading of 130 for the loss of six wickets.
Six-down Wellington Masakadza (17) was trapped leg before wicket by Miraz when Zimbabwe’s score was 165 for the loss of seven wickets.
Then Regis Chakabva (20) was caught at the short cover by Mahmudullah Riyad off Nazmul Islam when Zimbabwe’s total was 172 for the loss of eight wickets.
Seven-down Brandon Mavuta (6) was caught at the mid-off by Ariful Haque off Nazmul Islam when Zimbabwe’s score was 173 for the loss of nine wickets.
Taijul Islam trapped leg before wicket Tendai Chatara (8) to wrap up Zimbabwe’s second innings.
Taijul Islam bowled extremely well and maintained his consistency as he completed his tremendous spell as 28.4-8-62-5.
Miraz grabbed three wickets at the cost of 48 runs, while Nazmul Islam bagged a couple of wickets for 27 runs.
Today openers Liton Das (14) and Imrul Kayes (12) will resume their second innings.
