Staff Reporter :The Bangladesh government on Thursday strongly advised its nationals not to travel in Libya in the wake of the ongoing fighting and deteriorating security situation.Bangladeshi nationals, including migrant workers, are again advised not to undertake any journey to war-torn Libya until further instructions, a Foreign Ministry press release said on Thursday. According to the advice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation and further requesting Bangladeshi nationals to refrain from visiting Libya until further notification in this regard. Unless it is unavoidable, the Bangladeshi nationals are also advised not to return to Libya for the time being. Those who are now staying in Libya have been asked to avoid crowded area, procession and demonstration.They have been asked to contact consular SM Ashraful Islam to know about the latest development of the Libya. The contact number of the consular is–+216570300 and +21621924229.Earlier on July 31, last year, the Foreign Ministry advised all Bangladeshi nationals not to travel to Libya until the situation in the country was stable. On May 17 of this year, the Libyan government banned Bangladeshi workers from entering the country because many of them were trying to travel in Europe by boat illegally. According to Bureau of Manpower, Employment Training, Libya had been recruiting Bangladeshi workers since 1976 and it has so far recruited more than 1,20,000 workers.Officials said, around 50,000 Bangladeshi workers are currently living in Libya and about 40,000 of them are in the state of uncertainty there. After the fall of Gaddafi’s government in 2011, the Bangladesh government brought back its 36,000 nationals so far from the country.
