A Bangladesh national has died in the US while trying to protect his wife who was stabbed by a shoplifter outside the store both worked for.
Washi Ahmed, who hailed from Mymensingh, and his wife Lagrima Paulina Lopez used to work for a 7-Eleven store at the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles. The couple was stabbed on Friday morning (local time) by a shoplifter around the parking lot while they were
trying to retrieve stolen goods. Police said, that around 9:15am that day a man in his 40s grabbed a beer and a hot dog and started to leave.
Lopez confronted the man, who “hacked her multiple times,” then stabbed Ahmed when he came out to check on his wife, said Lt John Jenal of the Los Angeles Police Department. Residents said Ahmed, who had worked at the store for the last eight years, married Lopez last year after being divorced by his Bangladeshi wife.
Los Angeles Bangladeshi community leader Mominul Haque Bachchu told bdnews24.com that Ahmed’s son from his first wife, flew in to Los Angeles from New York on the news of his father’s death.
