A Bangladeshi shop employee from Feni has been shot to death in South Africa, his family has said.
The 45-year-old Fazlul Haque, alias Kala Mia, worked in his brother-in-law’s shop in Regent Park area near Johannesburg, said his brother Rezaul Munshi. “A group of armed assailants shot him on Sunday night after coming to loot the shop. His body was recovered and taken to a nearby hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.”
The shop was looted during this time, said Rezaul.
Kala Mia used to drive an auto-rickshaw in the village before going to South Africa.
His relatives have sought cooperation from the government to bring his body back to Bangladesh immediately.
