Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has said telecommunication is not an isolate sector now rather it becomes super highway of digital world and Bangladesh is moving towards this way.
“Telecommunication sector has to be engaged deeply with digital technologies such as big data, AI, robotix, IoT as COVID-19 has pointed out to world community that telecommunication is now life-line of people,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a video conference on next course of action in this situation rendered by the deadly coronavirus worldwide, jointly organized by World Economic Forum, GSMA, ITU and World Bank.
Bangladesh minister joined the high level conference from his Baily Road official residence on Tuesday night, said a ministry press release on Wednesday. A total of 350 people including ministers, representatives of regulators and telecom operators as well as experts joined the nearly three-hour long video conference.
All the people in the conference shared their experiences regarding the deadly virus pandemic.
Mustafa Jabbar also told them about Bangladesh’s preparation and contribution of telecommunication sector in combating the outbreak in the country.
He also informed the conference that Bangladesh’s mobile phone operators are using advance data solution and big data is developing digital map to stop spread of COVID-19.
The minister urged the world leaders to adopt immediate and appropriate action plan to overcome the damage and loss by the COVID-19.
