Diplomatic Correspondent :
Bangladeshi embassies, high commissions and consulate general offices across the world observed MujibBorsho (Mujib Year) to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Tuesday.
All the missions in six continents have organized various programs to observe the day in a befitting manner, according to messages received from the Bangladeshi diplomatic missions across the world.
The day’s events began with the heads of the missions hoisting the national flag and placing floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
Discussions were held to highlight the legacy, works and ideals of the founding president of the country. In the discussions, special emphasis was given on how a prosperous Bangladesh could be built by following the ideals and works of Bangabandhu.
Special prayers were offered for the salvation of the departed soul.
Documentaries and feature films on the illustrious life and achievements of Bangabandhu were also screened.
As Bangabandhu’s birthday is also celebrated as the National Children’s Day, several missions organized programs with children’s participation in painting and essay writing competition.
As decided earlier by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladeshi missions abroad will organize a whole host of events throughout the Mujib year, including cultural programs, conferences and art exhibitions.
