Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi organised a get together of artists from Bangladesh and India in New Delhi on Sunday when paintings of prolific artists from both the countries were displayed.
As many as 25 art works of eminent artist from Bangladesh Quamrul Hassan, S M Sultan, Mohammad Kibria, Murtaja Baseer, Rafiquan Nabi, Munirul Islam, Farida Zaman, Shahabuddin Ahmed, Abdus Shakoor Shah, Rokeya Sultana, Kalidas Karmakar, Dilara Begum Jolly and Tajuddin Ahmed, among others, were displayed at the function, reports BSS.
Artists from both the countries including Rokeya Sultana, Jatin Das, Ananda Chaterjee, Alka Pandey, Kanchan Chandar, Kishor Chakravarty and Sushanta Guha, among others, were present along with the guests at the function held at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of the mission.
Besides, cultural personalities, journalists, foreign diplomats and officers from Indian ministry of external affairs, among others, were present.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran while welcoming the guests said that Bangladesh and India shared the common cultural heritage which brought the two people closer through exchange of cultural programmes.
He said the cultural exchange programmes between the two countries began in 1972 to further strengthen bilateral relations. In this context, He mentioned various programmes undertaken by Bangladesh government in cultural arena.
On the very beginning of the programme, one minute silence was observed to pay respect to the departed souls of the people, who were burnt to death in a devastating fire that broke out in a container depot in Sitakunda, Chattagram in Bangladesh.
