BD, Maldives set up joint commissions to boost trade, economic cooperation

Bangladesh and the Maldives have decided to set up three joint commissions on trade, economy and fisheries aiming at strengthening further the existing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives Rear Admiral Kazi Sarwar Hossain said this during a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban Sunday.
During the meeting, the high commissioner apprised the President of the activities of the Bangladesh High Commission in Male and informed the President that the Maldives would recruit 67 more doctors from Bangladesh.
He also said that the High Commission has set up a Free-Friday clinic and a community club for the welfare of the expatriate Bangladeshis living there.
About the expatriate Bangladeshis in the Maldives, Kazi Sarwar Hossain said the High Commission has started attestation of the employment approval given by the Maldives government. Steps have also been taken to launch the High Commission’s website, he added.
President Abdul Hamid asked the envoy to continue to work in strengthening the relations between the two brotherly countries.
The President also asked the High Commissioner to ensure the welfare of the Bangladeshi community there.
