Bangladesh lost to India by an innings and 46 runs in the second Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. It was a Day/ Night affair and also a pink-ball Test. Both teams for the first time took part in the Day/Night Test with pink balls.
By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh suffered a 2-0 defeat in the two-Test match series.
Earlier, Bangladesh tasted an innings and 130 runs defeat to India in the first Test in at Holkar Stadium in Indore recently.
In the Kolkata Test, Bangladesh opted to bat
first and were dismissed for just 106 on the first day (Friday).
In reply, India declared their first innings after piling up 347 in the first innings on the second day (Saturday) and set a target of 241 runs for Bangladesh to avoid innings defeat.
But, Bangladesh were all out for 195 in the second innings on the third day (Sunday).
Mushfiqur Rahim fought back making a superb 74. He hit 13 fours in his 96-ball innings.
Besides, Liton Das retired hurt for 39.
Most of the Bangladesh batsmen failed to resist the superb pace attack by India.
Pacer Ishant Sharma captured altogether nine wickets and was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Besides, Ishant Sharma was adjudged the Player of the Series for his consistent and outstanding bowling attack in the two Tests.
