BD-Lanka T20I 5 BCL men hurt in rival clash

At least five students of AF Rahman Hall of Dhaka University were injured in a clash between two groups of activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League over watching Bangladesh-Sri Lanka second T20 International cricket match in the TV room on Thursday night.
Sources said, the BCL activists vandalized three rooms and part of the common room, took away a laptop and two cell phone sets of the students.
The incident erupted when one group of students were watching the game on television in the common room, the another group was listening to the radio.
When the radio listeners shouted, the TV audiences protested, sources said.
At one stage, the supporters of BCL hall unit President Hafizur Rahman and General Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Tushar locked in an altercation over the tiny matter and began a clash.
Room No 421, 304 and 306 of the hall were vandalized and five activists of Tushar group were beaten.
The injured are: Saiful Islam, 2nd year student of Philosophy Department, Rajib, 4th year student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Afsar, 2nd year student of Sociology Department, Aple Mahmud, 4th year student of Social Welfare Department, and Afjal, 2nd year student of same department.
Of them, Saiful Islam’s condition is serious.
The injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
When asked about the incident, BCL AF Rahman Hall unit President said, he was outside the dormitory and later heard about the incident. Disciplinary action would be taken against the guilty.
Provost of the hall Professor Aftab Uddin said, after investigation proper step would be taken.
