BD, KSA sign deal on urea import

The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has signed an initial agreement with Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) on import of urea fertilizer.
The deal has recently been signed at head office of SABIC in Saudi capital Riyadh, according to the sources. Under the deal, BCIC will purchase the urea fertilizer from SABIC in 2016-2017 fiscal.
Officials from ministry concerned, embassy and SABIC were present at the deal signing ceremony. According to the agreement, BCIC will import 200,000 tonnes of granular urea and 105,000 tonnes of prilled urea from SABIC. Because of this deal, there will be sufficient supply of urea in the local market to meet the countrywide demand of urea in the year 2016-17.
