BD-Korea bilateral ties to be boosted

The Ambassador of South Korea in Dhaka has assured Bangladesh of Korea’s all sorts of supports in strengthening bilateral relationship between the two countries and to help Bangladesh become a middle-income country.
The Ambassador gave this assurance while addressing a reception in a city hotel yesterday (Tuesday) evening marking its National Foundation Day.
“The South Korean Government will do everything possible to boost Bangladesh-Korea bilateral relationship and open up a new chapter of friendship,” Korean Ambassador AHN Seong-doo has said. “As Korean Ambassador, I’ll leave no stone unturned to boost our bilateral relationship and open a new chapter of our friendship in the next four decades,” he assured.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Senior politicians, civil society members, diplomats and journalists were present at the programme.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak in his speech laid emphasis on Koran government’s support for ICT development in Bangladesh to strengthen the bilateral ties.
To this effect, both the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Dhaka agreed to hold “Korea-Bangladesh ICT Seminar” with the collaboration of BASIS on December 13, 2015 at the Hotel Westin Dhaka where the State Minister for ICT will be present as the Chief Guest.
However, the Korean diplomat said, they are confident that Bangladesh can accomplish the dream to be a middle-income country, if Korea can be an economic powerhouse from a war-torn country.
The accomplishment will be an example of success to attain ‘vision-2021’ envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Korean envoy mentioned.
He said, they strongly believe that ICT is a pivotal factor for economic growth and development.
“The success of Digital Bangladesh will pave the way for achieving the middle-income country status by 2021 and developed country by 2041. In accomplishing that goal, we’ll stand side by side and work hand in hand with the people of Bangladesh,” the envoy added.
Seong-doo mentioned that the KOICA, Korea’s ODA (Official Development Agency), has been playing a crucial role in supporting the welfare and betterment of Bangladesh for the last two decades.
