‘BD-India ties make remarkable progress in last decade’

Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen said Bangladesh- India ties made a remarkable progress in a wide range of areas as many new initiatives are being added to multifaceted cooperation on a regular basis.
“Bangladesh-India relations have seen transformative changes reaching to new heights,” he said.
Foreign Secretary said this on the sixteenth instant while speaking at the award giving ceremony of the Maitri Diwas (Friendship Day) logo and backdrop design competition jointly organised by the Bangladesh foreign ministry and Indian High Commission at foreign service academy in Dhaka.
The ceremony was also attended by the Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami and officials of Bangladesh foreign ministry.
The ‘Maitri Diwas’ (Friendship Day) is a symbol of demonstrating the emotional bonds stemming from the invaluable contribution of India to the Liberation War of Bangladesh which remained a “dominant factor” in the New Delhi-Dhaka relations.
The foreign secretary said both the countries have taken up yearlong programs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations on various other fronts.
Through these programs, Masud said, Bangladesh and India have projected the good neighbourhood to other countries in the world, which has become a role model for all countries.
The two countries have been engaging with each other, even at the highest level when the whole world is stalled because of COVID pandemic, he dded.
Eight Bangladeshi Nationals and Seven Indian nationals won 16 awards in different categories in the competition of logo and backdrop design of the ‘Maitri Diwas’. The foreign secretary and Indian envoy today handed over the nine awards to the eight Bangladeshi nationals while Bangladesh High Commission to India in collaboration with Indian External Affairs Ministry will hand over the awards to the Indian winners later on in New Delhi.
