‘BD focuses on differently able persons’

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said people of the country who are differently able, have come to the mainstream of the society as Bangladesh is working as a global leader for the development of the living standards of these people.
“As per the sincere effort of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is working as a global leader to improve the living standards of the neglected, depressed and helpless people with their disabilities in the country… As a result, they have now come to the mainstream of the society are now rather termed as ‘specially able’,” he said.
The Minister said this while addressing at a discussion meeting as the chief guest at the auditorium of the Neuro-Developmental Disability Protection Trust in city’s Banglamotor area on the occasion of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day.
With Neuro-Developmental Disability Protection Trustee Board Chairman Professor Dr Mohammod Golam Rabbani in the chair, the meeting was attended by State Minister for Social Welfare Sharif Ahmed and Social Welfare Secretary Zuena Aziz as special guests.
There is no alternative to education to bring the special people to the mainstream of society, Nuruzzaman said, adding that institutions will be built for the quality education of these people as a draft of special education policy on Neuro-Developmental Disabilities has made already as per the directive of Premier of the country.
