BD face India in SAFF U-20 Champ final today

Bangladesh Under-20 Football team will take on India Under-20 Football team in the final of the SAFF Under-20 Championship at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. The match will kick-off at 7.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). The winning team will be the champions of the five-team prestigious football meet of this region.
Unbeaten Bangladesh grabbed 10 points from four matches, while India collected nine points from as many matches.
Bangladesh made an auspicious start in their SAFF U-20 campaign beating Sri Lanka by a solitary goal in their first match at the same venue on July 25.
Bangladesh maintained their winning streak defeating India by 2-1 goals in their second match at the same venue on July 27.
Bangladesh kept their winning run thrashing Maldives by 4-1 goals in their fourth match at the same venue on July 29.
Bangladesh drew 1-1 goals with Nepal in their last group match at the same venue on August 2.
On the other hand, India started their SAFF Under-20 Championship with a defeat as they lost to Bangladesh in their first match at the same venue on July 27.
India crushed Sri Lanka by four goals to nil in their second match at the same venue on July 29.
India continued their winning run thrashing Nepal by eight goals to nil in their third match at the same venue on July 31.
India maintained their winning streak beating Maldives by a solitary goal in their fourth match at the same venue on August 2.
Manager of Bangladesh Under-20 Bijon Barua said, ” Our team are balanced side. After watching their practice, I have understood that the boys will play in the final. The boys are very much motivated. We want to win in the final. We won against India in the group phase. So, we expect that result in the final.”
He said, ” There are some problems in our squad. Shohidul Islam could not play as he was showed red card in his last match against Nepal. Mirajul Islam is injured. But most of the players are equal according to their performance. I hope we shall clinch the title.”
