Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Thursday said Bangladesh’s export to Sweden had almost doubled over the last five years and hoped that it would grow further in the coming days following increasing demands.
Bangladesh’s export to the Scandinavian country totaled US$ 421.74 million in fiscal 2013-14 as against US$ 233.48 million in fiscal 2009-10, he mentioned when Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Anneli Lindahl Kenny called on the Commerce Minister at his office.
The Swedish ambassador said Sweden is keen to increase investment in Bangladesh.
During the meeting, the Commerce Minister and the Swedish envoy laid emphasis on enhancing trade cooperation between the two countries in the coming days.
Bangladesh mainly exports garment, leather goods, ceramics, frozen fishes, footwear and caps to Sweden, and the demand is on the rise.
