Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Akramul Quader has briefed US Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee about Dhaka’s recent steps to ensure occupational safety and labour rights for garment workers.
A government press release issued in Dhaka on Saturday said the ambassador met with Sheila Jackson at her office at Capitol Hill on May 9 and explained to her about the progresses made in improving the safety standards as well as ensuring the labour rights.
Akramul Quader said, Bangladesh is doing its best for the welfare of the garment workers.
He said, Bangladesh is following the suggestions made by the development partners like the European Union and the US in improving conditions in the garment sector.
