Bangladesh Embassy in Paris has observed the Armed Forces Day for the first time paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs of the War of Independence in 1971.
To mark the day, a reception was organized by the Defense Wing of Bangladesh Embassy at the Hotel Intercontinental in Paris on November 21 last, according to an embassy press release.
The programme began with rendering the national anthem of Bangladesh while Defence Attaché Brigadier General Md Mohsin conducted it. Besides, Bangladesh Ambassador to France Kazi Imtiaz Hossain highlighted the significance of the Armed Forces Day as the main discussant in the programme.
About 200 guests were present on the occasion including ambassadors of different countries, senior officers of the France Armed Forces, police, civil society and scores of migrant Bangladeshis, the release added.
