The members of Bangladesh Cricket team began their practice at the Lincoln University Ground in New Zealand on Tuesday. The members of the Bangladesh Cricket team were tested negative for coronavirus on Monday.
Mominul Haque Co. did running, fitness training and skill training on their first day of the practice.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Russell Domingo said, ” After a long quarantine, Bangladesh cricketers are in a festive mood as they got chance to take part in practice session.” Domingo said, ” My boys felt good after taking part in practice session in the open air. It was challenging for them to participate in the training after a long quarantine period. My boys became happy to take part in their practice in a sunny day.”
He said, ” My boys will take part in the high intensity training in the upcoming two or three days. Before the first Test against New Zealand, my boys will get a week to take part in the practice. I hope my boys will get their rhythm before the first Test.”
All the members of Bangladesh Cricket team are totally okay accepting Rangana Herath, the Spin Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team. Herath has tested positive for coronavirus. He is now at the Covid Centre of New Zealand.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Cricket team went to New Zealand in the early month to play some limited over matches against New Zealand. In that time Bangladesh cricketers had to take 14-day quarantine period. But this time the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested New Zealand Cricket to reduce the time of quarantine. But as the coronavirus hit the Bangladesh squad, there was a situation arose to the suspension of the two-Test match series between Bangladesh and New Zealand. However, as all the cricketers of Bangladesh have tested negative for Covid-19 test, the Tests will certainly take place as per schedule.
The first Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand will take place at Mount Maunganui from January 1 to January 5. The second Test between the hosts and the tourists will be held at Christchurch from January 9 to January 13.
