BD Cricket team leave for Oman

Members of Bangladesh Cricket team left Dhaka for Oman on Sunday to take part in the ICC Cricket T20 World Cup qualifiers. Before leaving Dhaka for Oman, the members of Bangladesh squad underwent Covid-19 test. It is a good news all of them have become negative for coronavirus test. It may be mentioned that Oman is affected by cyclone Shaheen on Sunday.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and ‘Cutter Boy’ Mustafizur Rahman are staying in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They will join Bangladesh squad in UAE on October 9.
After reaching Oman, Bangladesh team will take one-day recess. Bangladesh squad will take part in their practice session in Oman from October 5. Head Coach of Bangladesh team Russell Domingo, Batting Coach Ashwell Prince, Pace Bowling Coach Ottis Gibson, Spin Bowling Coach Rangana Herath, Fielding Coach Ryan Cook and the other coaching staff will join Bangladesh squad on the same day.
After four days, Bangladesh squad will leave Oman for United Arab Emirates to play two warm-up matches there.
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in their first warm-up match on October 12. Bangladesh will face Ireland in their second warm-up match on October 14. After competing in the warm-up matches, Bangladesh team will return to Oman to participate in the qualifiers matches of the ICC Cricket T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh, Scotland, Oman, Papua New Guinea have been placed in Group-B. Bangladesh will take on Scotland in their first match on October 17, Bangladesh will play against Oman in their second match on October 19, Bangladesh will face Papua New Guinea in their third match on October 21. Top two teams will get the tickets of the final round of ICC Cricket T20 World Cup. If Bangladesh team can qualify for the final round, they will fly for UAE on October 22 to play in the ICC Cricket T20 World Cup.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the 15-member Bangladesh squad which will take part in the qualifiers and the final round.
Bangladesh squad: Mahmudullah Riyad (Captain), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Mohammad Naim, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shamim Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed.
