Teenage all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz emerges as the brilliant youngster in Bangladesh Cricket in his debut in the test series against England that concluded on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The 19-year-old right arm off break bowler from Khulna, Miraz picked up 12 wickets to guide Bangladesh to win their historic maiden test against elite England beating them by comfortable 108 runs on the 3rd day of the 2nd test to level the two-match test series 1-1 to take revenge of their 1-2 defeat in close three-match ODI series.
Miraz, who led Bangladesh to their first appearance in an Under-19 World Cup semifinal in February this year, before making the year more memorable with his Test debut against England this month, named as the man of the series for grabbing 19 wickets in two Tests.
He was also adjudged man of the match in the series-decider 2nd test claiming 12 wickets – six wicket each in both innings against England after taking seven wickets in the first test in Chittagong in the 3rd week of this month.
Bangladesh stunned test elite England bowling them out in a dramatic final session of 22.3 overs on the 3rd day featuring six wickets by Miraz to secure their glorious Test victory over Englishmen to level the series 1-1 after conceding a close 22-run defeat in the first Test in Chittagong from almost winning position.
This was the most magnificent victory for Bangladesh against any major Test playing in their 95 test matches after beating earlier only West Indies and Zimbabwe.
It also posed fresh questions for England, who went from 100 for 0 to 164 all out in 22.3 mesmeric overs as Mehedi Hasan Miraz and and Shakib Al Hasan shared all the 10 wickets.
The crowning moment was delivered by the youngster Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who finished with another six-wicket haul, 12 in the match and 19 wickets in the two-match series, the best blowing figures by any Bangladeshi to spark the jubilation at Mirpur Stadium.
