Another coronavirus patient has died in Bangladesh and three new cases have been detected in last 24 hours, Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Wednesday confirmed it.
The latest death from coronavirus takes the toll to six.
Besides, the tally of infections also rose to 54 including the three new cases.
The Health Minister said that, among the infected
cases, 26 have recovered and returned home.
“We are working on setting up about 500 ventilators at government hospitals, as we are constantly trying to improve the quality of our healthcare services,” Zahid Maleque said in an online press briefing.
He said, “Another 300 ventilators are being imported. There are about 700 ventilators in private hospitals,” he added.
Kurmitola General Hospital has been prepared for the treatment of coronavirus patients and will be equipped with ventilators, the minister added.
“Gastroliver Hospital is also ready and will have ventilators too. Bangladesh Kuwait Friendship Hospital had been setting up for it. There are many other hospitals in and outside Dhaka that stand ready to treat Covid-19 patients,” Zahid Maleque said.
Coronavirus testing facilities are up and running in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, IPH and Shishu Hospital. The service will also underway at Dhaka Medical College Hospital soon.
According to the Health Minister, testing laboratories will be established outside the capital, Mymensingh, Rangpur and Rajshahi medical college hospitals.
He urged the public not to hesitate when it comes to getting tested for the virus.
