Bangladesh became unbeaten champions in the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi Tournament defeating Kenya by 34-28 points with two lonas in the final at the Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium in the city on Friday.
The winners trailed by 10-18 points in the first half. But after the interval, the hosts asserted themselves and kept pressure on the team from Africa.
Arduzzaman Munshi of Bangladesh was adjudged the Man of the Match, while Tuhin Tarafder became the Player of the Tournament.
After the final match, Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal distributed the prizes
among the winners as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Chairman of the Tournament Committee and Additional DIG of Bangladesh Police Gazi Mozammel Haque were present on the occasion.
A total of five teams took part in the kabaddi competition. They are hosts Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Poland.
