Bangladesh ‘A’ and visiting Sri Lanka ‘A’ shared the three-match unofficial ODI series 1-1 as rain forced abandonment of the 3rd game at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Bangladesh first took the lead 1-0 in the series with a two-run win in the 1st game, but the visitors bounced back with a 67-run win in the 2nd match to level the series.
In the 3rd match, Sri Lanka, opening the innings with bat after winning the toss, scored 58 for 1 in 9.3 overs before the rain halted the game for the first time.
The visitors resumed the innings with a curtailed 45-over-a-side affair and managed a moderate score 240 for 9 in the reduced overs where opener Sadeera Samarawickrama [75 off 83b; 10×4] and Ashan Priyanjan [53 off 62b; 5×4] fired fifty each and built up a partnership of 130 off 2.5 overs in the 2nd wicket.
Skipper Thisara Perera hit run-a-ball 44 with five boundaries while Shehan Madushanka [29 off 25b; 2×4; 1×6] was another notable scorer for the side.
Left-handed spinner Sunzamul Islam (4/24) was most successful wicket taker for Bangladesh while Khaled Ahmed (2/42), Nayeem Hasan(1/28) and Shoriful Islam (1/63) shared four wickets for the side.
Bangladesh opened the innings and could play only 3.4 overs to collect 12 runs for no loss before rain finally stopped the game, which was called off around 4:20 pm.
Thisara Perera, who scored 177 runs [22-111-44] in three games, including a century in the second game, was adjudged player of the series.
Earlier, Sri Lanka ‘A’ clinched the three-match (four-day) unofficial Test series 1-0 as the visitors defeated the hosts by an innings and 38 runs in Sylhet, following the two successive draws in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
