Bangladesh A Team, now touring South Africa to play three one-day and a three-day warm-up matches, scored 272 for 7 in stipulated 50 overs against Irene Villagers Cricket Club in their first one-day cricket match at the Irene Villagers Club ground on Monday.
Sent in to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh lost opener cum vice captain Soumya Sarker (8) for 33 runs in 4.4 overs.
However, another opener Rony Talukder pairing with one down Liton Kumar Das contributed 66 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Opener Rony Talukder contributed the team highest 68 runs off 64 balls featuring eleven boundaries while Liton Kumar Das made 29-ball 39 runs hitting seven fours and one six.
After the dismissal of seven batsmen for 194 runs in 33.4 overs, lower order Mahmudul Hasan pairing with Sadman Islam made 78 runs in the 8th wicket stand enabling Bangladesh to a respectable total of 272 for 7 in 50 overs.
Number eight batsman Mahmudul Hasan contributed an unbeaten 43 runs off 41 balls including three boundaries while number nine Sadman Islam added another useful 38 runs off 54 balls with one boundary.
Besides, middle order Mithun Ali scored 41-ball 33 runs including six fours, Mosaddek Hossain scored 16 off 23 balls with one four and a six, skipper Shuvagata Hom scored nine runs off 13 balls with one four while national all rounder Sabbir Rahman went back to pavilion with duck playing two balls.
Another 18 runs of the innings came from extras.
Pretorious grabbed two wickets while Mofokeng, Van Buuren, Kaberm Rasamene and Cartwright took one wicket each.
