Bangladesh A team took 2-0 lead in the five-match one-day series when they recorded an overwhelming eight-wicket victory over visiting Ireland A team in the low scoring third one-dayer held on Tuesday at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket in Cox’s Bazar.
Chasing a Ireland’s paltry 103 runs, skipper Nazmul Hossain (41 n.o) and Al Amin Jr (14 n.o) guided Bangladesh towards the easy victory making 106 in 23 overs with eight wickets in hand after the departure of openers Sadman Islam (24) and Anamul Haque (20).
George Dockrell and Peter Chase shared one wicket each for Ireland.
Earlier, bowlers dismissed the Irish at a paltry total of 103, after the visitors opted to bat first.
The highlight of Ireland’s dilapidated innings was their captain Andrew Balbrine’s responsable 52 runs and Shane Getkate’s 23 as visitors lost wickets in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the
Bangladesh bowlers, especially Abu Haider, who claimed three wickets conceding 29 runs.
Apart from Haider’s three wickets, Tanvir Haider and Sanzamul Islam shared two wickets each giving away 14 and 23 runs respectively.
Abu Haider of Bangladesh was named the player of the match for his impressive bowling performance.
Earlier in the second match, Bangladesh posted an exciting three-wicket victory over Ireland in the low scoring match while the first match also washed out to inclement weather.
