Chairman of Bangladesh Council of Science and Industrial Research (BCSIR) Nazrul Islam Prodhan urged scientists of BCSIR for more pro-active scientific and industrial research for benefiting the general public.
Besides, he said all the industrial research and findings of those should be linked to the private entrepreneurs for successful marketing of the products together with making those familiarized and accessible to the consumers in general.
He said this while speaking at the inaugural session of a daylong workshop titled “BCSIR in Development of Industrial Technology and Role of Entrepreneurs” at BCSIR conference hall as chief guest in Rajshahi.
“You should be practical and your research outputs must be people-oriented,” Mr Prodhan reminded the scientists adding that carrying out valueless research by spending huge publicmoney must be stopped.
He put emphasis on exploring the potentiality of the region so that it could be flourished industrially for its economic emancipation.
BCSIR Director Dr Monsur Rahman in the chair, Director Dr Jahurul Haque, Regional Director of BSCIC Altaf Hossain, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Muniruzzaman and BCSIR Principal Scientific Officer Obaidul Haque Helali also spoke.
During his keynote presentation, Md Moinuddin, Senior Scientific Officer of BCSIR, apprised the meeting about the on-going research activities and so far achievements of the station.
He said the station has published 540 research papers, submitted 15 articles, attained 109 patents and submitted 12 others, received 148 methods and submitted 10 others, developedeight methods and leased out 21 others so far.
Referring to the adverse impact of climate change, BCSIR Chairman called upon the scientists to innovate adaptive measures through in-depth research to coup with the unpleasant situation.
He referred to the government’s commitment to build knowledge, science and technology-based society and asked the researchers to supplement the endeavor through their wholehearted efforts.
“All of us should have a mission to do something better for the welfare of the nation and help us to make the mission successful,” he urged the scientists.
The BCSIR could play effective role towards country’s development if it was made as furthermore dynamic through bilateral interruption, identifying the existing problems being suffered by the entrepreneurs, need assessment and necessary guideline.
