Bangladesh Cultural Reporters’ Association (BCRA) honoured thespian Ataur Rahman with BCRA Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the country’s cultural arena on Saturday. BCRA organised the programme marking its 25th founding anniversary held at the Music and Dance Centre Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy featured discussion, awards giving ceremony and cultural performances.
State Minister for Culture KM Khalid MP inaugurated the function. Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament Adv Fazle Rabbi Mia MP attended virtually as the chief guest on the occasion. Land Secretary Maksudur Rahman Patwari was also present as the special guest.
President of BCRA Avi Chowdhury took part in the discussion, President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Molla Jalal, Secretary General Shaban Mahmood, Chairman of Krishi Bank Ismail Hossain, Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brig Gen Sajjad Hossain NDC, President of BACHSAS Falguni Hamid and many others. Media personality Benu Sharma and General Secretary of BCRA Dulal Khan gave welcome speech.
Besides Ataur Rahman, journalist leader Molla Jalal was honoured for his unique contribution in writing songs and Falguni Hamid was honoured as a cultural personality. Shaban Mahmood and Farida Yasmin were also honoured for their contributions to journalism.
In addition, BCRA Silver Jubilee Award-2020 was also given to some meritorious people in different sectors of the cultural arena. In the film category, Moushumi, Ferdous, Nasrin, new generation heroine Adhora Khan, filmmaker Hasibur Reza Kallol, Jasmine Akhter Nodi and Khairun Sundori with the eternal story of Abhoman Bangla were honored. Mahfuz Ahmed for his unique contribution to the field of drama, Rashed Shimanto, a new generation of actor for his extraordinary performance in Moddho Raater Seba, Tipu Alam Milon for writing social awareness related drama, Syed Nabil Ashraf for advertisement and Nadira Ashraf for news presenter.
Received music category award Bappa Majumder, Rumana Islam, Monir Khan and Kaushik Hossain Taposh for bringing Bangla music to the international level through GaanBangla Television for their unique contributions in the world of music. Lyricist Shahan Kabandh, musicians Sahina Haque and Ananya Ruma also received special awards in this category.
President of the Film Directors Association Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Secretary General Badiul Alam Khokon, cultural organiser Choyan Islam, Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense in human service and Bangladesh Krishi Bank for their unique role in the welfare of farmers.
Kamrul Hasan Darpan, Manzur Quader Zia and Sheikh Arif Bulbon received honours in film and entertainment journalism respectively, while Sravanti Rahman in the dance department and as the event organiser Khadimul Islam Salman.
